Right Form of Verbs
1.      In case of Present Simple Tense and Subject 3rd Person Singular Number: Sub + V1(s/es) + Obj.
Examples:
a)      He knows how to swim.
b)      The boy catches fish in the pond.
c)      Why does she laugh at me?
2.      Universal truth & habitual fact: Present Simple Tense: S+V1+O
Examples:
a)      The earth moves round the sun.
b)      Ice floats on water.
c)      The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
3.      Modal Auxiliary Verb + Verb1
Examples:
a)      He should do this.
b)      It may rain today.
c)      She must attend the party.
4.      Time expressions: (always, regularly, sometimes, often, generally, daily, every day, occasionally, usually, normally): Present Simple Tense
Examples:
a)      He always speaks the truth.
b)      A good student learns his lesson regularly.
c)      She sometimes drinks tea.
5.      Time expressions: (yesterday, ago, long ago, last year, last week, last month, that day, day before, once): Past Simple Tense
Examples:
a)      He bought a pen yesterday.
b)      We saw a cinema last night.
c)      Once there was a liar cowboy.
6.      Time expressions: (now, at this moment, at present): Present Continuous Tense
Examples:
a)      What are you doing at this moment?
b)      She is swimming now.
c)      At present we are passing the days through a crisis.
7.      Time expressions: (just, just now, recently, already, lately, ever, yet): Present Perfect Tense
Examples:
a)      Father has come home just now.
b)      They have just finished their work.
c)      We have already done this.
8.      For (Period of Time)/Since (Point of Time): Present Perfect Continuous Tense
Examples:
a)      She has been reading for three hours.
b)      They have been living in Brahmanbaria since 2015.
c)      H has been suffering from fever for five days.
9.      Since ( Functioning as conjunction ):
                                i.            Present Indefinite/Perfect + since + Past Indefinite
                              ii.            Present Indefinite Tense + since + Past Perfect Tense
Examples:
a)      It is many years since I came to Dhaka.
b)      It was many years since I had come to Dhaka.
c)      Many years have passed since I saw you last.

10.   After/Before ( Two actions happened ): Past Perfect Tense
                                i.            Past Indefinite Tense + after + Past Perfect Tense
                              ii.            Past Perfect Tense + before + Past Indefinite Tense
Example:
a)      The students stood up after the teacher had entered into the classroom.
b)      The patient had died before the doctor came.
c)      The train left after we had reached the station.
11.  In case of using two principal verbs in a simple sentence: For the second - Gerund (verb + ing) or Infinitive (to + verb1)
Examples:
a)      I saw him (read).
Ans.: I saw him reading.
b)      I don’t want (read) this book.
Ans.: I don’t want to read this book.
c)      The boys started (run) in the field.
Ans.: The boys started running in the field.
12.  In case of without, cannot help, with a view to, look forward to, get used to, in addition to, would you mind, matter, worth, preposition: Verb + ing
Example:
a)      I went to the library with a view to (read) books.
Ans.: I went to the library with a view to reading books.
b)      He never thought of (go) abroad.
Ans.: He never thought of going abroad.
c)      Size does not matter (chop) wood.
Ans. Size does not matter chopping wood.
13.  It is high time, it is time, fancy, wish: Past form verb (verb2)
Examples:
a)      It is high time we (take) proper action.
Ans.: It is high time we took proper action.
b)      I wish I (be) a poet.
Ans.: I wish I were a poet.
c)      I fancy I (turn) pale.
Ans.: I fancy I turned pale.
14.  In case of using “As though or As if” in a sentence:
                                i.            Simple Present Tense + as if or as though + Simple Past Tense
                              ii.            Simple Past Tense + as if or as though + Past Perfect Tense
Examples:
a)      He speaks as if he (understand) everything.
Ans.: He speaks as if he understood everything.
b)      He spoke as though he (understand) everything.
Ans.: He spoke as though he has understood everything.
c)      She pretends as though she (know) everything.
Ans.: She pretends as though she knew everything.
d)     She pretended as if she (know) everything.
Ans.: She pretended as if she had known everything.
15.  If + Simple Present Tense + Simple Future Tense
Example:
a)      If he works hard, he (prosper) in life.
Ans.: If he works hard, he will prosper in life.
b)      If the fog gets thicker, the plane (not fly).
Ans.: If the fog gets thicker, the plane will not fly.
c)      I will not go out if he (not come).
Ans.: I will not go out if he does not come.
16.  If Simple Past Tense + Past Conditional (Subject + would + verb1)
Example:
a)      If he wanted, I (help) him.
Ans.: If he wanted, I would help him.
b)      If I had money, I (buy) a car.
Ans.: If I had money, I would buy a car.
c)      I would phone you if I (know) your telephone number.
17.  If + Past Perfect Tense + Perfect Conditional (Subject + would have + verb3)
Example:
a)      If he had seen me, he (call) me.
Ans.: If he had seen me, he would have called me.
b)      If I had started in time, I (get) the train.
Ans.: If I had started in time, I would have got the train.
c)      She would have succeeded if she (work) hard.
Ans.: She would have succeeded if she had worked hard.
18.  Had + Subject + Verb3 + Perfect Conditional (Subject + would have + verb3)
Example:
a)      Had I seen him, I (give) him the news.
Ans.: Had I seen him, I would have given him the news.
b)      Had I possessed a vast property, I (establish) a college.
Ans.: Had I possessed a vast property, I would have established a college.
c)      Had I been a rich man, I (help) the poor.
Ans.: Had I been a rich man, I would have helped the poor.
19.  In case of using “While” in a sentence:
                                i.            While + verb+ ing  + Principal Clause
                              ii.            While + subject + was/were + verb + ing + Principal Clause
   Examples:
a)      While (walk) in the station, I met him.
Ans.: While walking in the station, I met him.
b)      While he (walk) in the station, I met him.
Ans. While he was walking in the station, I met him.
c)      Salma found a purse while she (come) back home from school.
Ans.: Salma found a purse while she was coming back home from school.
20.  No sooner had + subject + verb3 + than + subject2 + verb2
Example:
a)      No sooner had I (go) out than he (come).
Ans.: No sooner had I gone out than he came.
b)      No sooner had we (reach) the station than the train (leave).
Ans.: No sooner had we reached the station than the train left.
c)      No sooner had the teacher (enter) into the classroom than the students (stand) up.
Ans.: No sooner had the teacher entered into the classroom than the students stood up.
·         Scarcely had + subject + verb3 + when + subject2 + verb2
·         Hardly had + subject + verb3 + when + subject2 + verb
