Hope and pray that all of you are keeping well. Now we are living under the dark shadow of Covid19. Covid19 is an infectious disease caused by a new coronavirus. Stay alert to stay safe and to save lives. However my today’s topic is “Right Form of Verbs.” Mind it “Subject-Verb Agreement” is also a part of Right Form of Verbs. First, you have to read out the rules and then you have to take part into several online Quiz Test 1, 2 & 3. You will get the three parts of this topic one by one. Part 1: Rule (1 to 10).

Right Form of Verbs
 
Tense                                                   Number                                               Person

1.      In case of Present Simple Tense and Subject 3rd Person Singular Number: Sub + V1(s/es) + Obj.
            Examples:
a)      He knows how to swim.
b)      The boy catches fish in the pond.
c)      Why does she laugh at me?

2.      Universal truth & habitual fact: Present Simple Tense: S+V1+O
Examples:
a)      The earth moves round the sun.
b)      Ice floats on water.
c)      The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

3.      Modal Auxiliary Verb + Verb1
Examples:
a)      He should do this.
b)      It may rain today.
c)      She must attend the party.

4.      Time expressions: (always, regularly, sometimes, often, generally, daily, every day, occasionally, usually, normally): Present Simple Tense
Examples:
a)      He always speaks the truth.
b)      A good student learns his lesson regularly.
c)      She sometimes drinks tea.

5.      Time expressions: (yesterday, ago, long ago, last year, last week, last month, that day, day before, once): Past Simple Tense
Examples:
a)      He bought a pen yesterday.
b)      We saw a cinema last night.
c)      Once there was a liar cowboy.

6.      Time expressions: (now, at this moment, at present): Present Continuous Tense
Examples:
a)      What are you doing at this moment?
b)      She is swimming now.
c)      At present we are passing the days through a crisis.

7.      Time expressions: (just, just now, recently, already, lately, ever, yet): Present Perfect Tense
Examples:
a)      Father has come home just now.
b)      They have just finished their work.
c)      We have already done this.

8.      For (Period of Time)/Since (Point of Time): Present Perfect Continuous Tense
             Examples:
a)      She has been reading for three hours.
b)      They have been living in Brahmanbaria since 2015.
c)      H has been suffering from fever for five days.

9.      Since ( Functioning as conjunction ):
                              
                               i.            Present Indefinite/Perfect + since + Past Indefinite
                             
                 ii.            Present Indefinite Tense + since + Past Perfect Tense

  Examples:
 a)      It is many years since I came to Dhaka.
 b)      It was many years since I had come to Dhaka.     
 c)      Many years have passed since I saw you last.

10.   After/Before ( Two actions happened ): Past Perfect Tense
                              
                                i.            Past Indefinite Tense + after + Past Perfect Tense
             
                  ii.            Past Perfect Tense + before + Past Indefinite Tense

Example:
 a)      The students stood up after the teacher had entered into the classroom.
 b)      The patient had died before the doctor came.
c)      The train left after we had reached the station.
